Why Our Process Is So Cost-Efficient

One of the most significant factors in freeze-dried food production is energy consumption.

A large-capacity freeze-drying machine typically processes around 1,500 kg of frozen chicken per batch. After moisture removal, which is approximately 60%, this results in 500 kg of finished product.

Each batch requires 22 hours to process/dry, and the electricity demands during this process are substantial. In regions where the average cost of electricity is around £0.25 per kWh, as is common in Europe, the energy expense alone for one batch can reach approximately £7,000.

This figure doesn’t include the raw ingredient cost, cooking, international cold-chain transport, wages, equipment maintenance, or other operational overheads.

In contrast, our facility in China benefits from significantly lower energy costs—approximately £0.06 per kWh. The energy savings alone create a meaningful reduction in unit cost without any compromise in quality.

We also optimize for transport efficiency. Rather than shipping frozen chicken from Thailand to Europe—a refrigerated journey of up to 50 days—we bring chicken into China in under two days, where it is freeze-dried. The finished product is then exported in its dried form.

This has two major benefits:

By streamlining every stage of production, energy, logistics, and sourcing, we deliver the same premium-quality product with exceptional cost efficiency.

For our partners, this translates into consistently high standards with measurable savings across the supply chain.

Weight efficiency

1 kg of frozen chicken becomes approximately 300g once freeze-dried, reducing freight volume by 70%.

No refrigeration required

Eliminating the need for cold-chain logistics further reduces shipping costs.
